Early Years

Born in Denver, CO in 1952.  Lived in Arlington, Virginia from age 3 to 11. Took up golf at age 4.

Moved to San Antonio, Texas at age 11. High school team won Texas State Golf Championship. Ranked 4th individually in the state. Taught by legendary golf instructor Harvey Penick of Austin, Texas. 

Accepted first full golf scholarship ever offered by Trinity University in San Antonio, majoring in home building. First freshman ever to win the Southland Conference Individual Championship. Left Trinity after two years to pursue a career in professional golf.

Moved to Los Angeles area in 1973. Began teaching golf professionally in Azusa, CA.  Continued to teach primarily in Los Angeles area until 1980 while playing most of his professional competitive golf during this time.

Finished 2nd in the Southern California State Open and medalist in local US Open Qualifying in 1978.  Won on the prestigious NGA mini-tour and played the Australia/New Zealand Tour in 1979. Reached the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School twice.

Lowest competitive round was 63.

Chose to step away from competitive golf in 1980 to devote all of his time to teaching.

Later Years

Held seasonal teaching positions in Omaha, the Chicago area, and the Papago Golf Course in Phoenix from 1980 through 1983. 

Set one course record of 64 in Lincoln, Nebraska during this time.

Acquired membership in the PGA of America and located permanently in Phoenix in 1984.

o Scottsdale Family Golf Center
o Fiesta Inn Golf Facility
o Pavilion Lakes Golf Club
o Coldwater Golf Club
o McCormick Ranch Golf Club

Venues in Albuquerque, New Mexico include Head Golf Professional at The Golf Center @ Balloon Fiesta Park in 2003 and seasonal teaching professional at the Ladera Golf Club (current).
